Welcome to the 2023 ECS Track and Field Team!

Whether you are a veteran or a rookie, welcome! One thing you need to now before our practices even begin is that you are considered a member of this team the moment you sign up; there are no try-outs, no cuts, and no minimum event standards for our first two meets. All we ask of you is that you commit to doing your best and attend as many practices as possible while being a positive and supportive team member and you'll be allowed to practice, travel, and compete with the team. Though Track and Field is considered an individual sport, we workout/practice, travel, and cheer for each other as a team.
Weather may interfere with practice, but practice will almost never be cancelled. You need to make sure you have gear for all types of weather because if you aren't dressed properly
(wearing a t-shirt when it is 6°) you won't be allowed to practice! Practices will run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from about 3:45 - 5:00/5:30 every week. Friday, evening, and weekend practices will be scattered throughout the season so make sure to check Edsby often and plan your non-Track and Field lives accordingly! Not every coach will be at every practice, but there will always be someone around so you can get as many practices in during our short training season as possible. You will have at least 16 scheduled practice days before Regionals. In order to qualify for that competition, you must have attended at least 8 practices or your name will be scratched from competition - which means your season is over. If, for legitimate reasons (like an injury or Driver's Ed) you are close but still under the 8 practices, we will discuss as a coaching staff whether you will be allowed to compete. There may be more practices called as the season goes on, like on days when there is no school or on weekends, but don't count on these to reach your minimum 8 practices.

We will help you be as prepared as possible for your competitions, but it is
your job to watch videos, become familiar with your event, read up on how to
get better, and practice at home in order to achieve the results you want to this
season!
