National Day of Mourning

National Day of Mourning, April 28

South East Cornerstone Public School Division will support wherever possible the lowering of flags on school buildings today in recognition of the National Day of Mourning. Each year in Canada an average of 1,000 workers are killed on the job and hundreds of thousands of others are either injured or suffer illnesses as a result of workplace related diseases. The National Day of Mourning was established by the Parliament of Canada in 1991 to mourn for those who died, but also to re-enforce the commitment to continue to fight for a healthy and safe workplace.

ECS Summer Job Fair 2026 - Company Spotlight

Dear Estevan & Area Businesses,

We have decided to pivot on how we will be running Summer Job Fair event this year to create a meaningful and focused experience for both students and employers.

Instead of hosting all companies at once on May 7th, we’re offering each organization the opportunity to be featured on a specific day in May. This “Company Spotlight” approach will give businesses dedicated time and visibility with students. On a scheduled day, we’ll promote the company and encourage students to visit their table during the lunch hour with messaging such as:
“Stop by today at noon to meet with [Company Name]! Bring your resume and questions — they’re hiring and excited to connect with you.”

We feel that this format will allow for more intentional conversations and helps students better engage with each employer.

We are going to host companies from May 4-13th.

Please use the attached link to sign up! (click on the story headline for the link)

Thank you for your support of this school initiative.
MFA

Multi-Factor Authentication Required

Southeast Cornerstone Public School Division will be implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all students K-12 starting on Wednesday, April 15th.

Information Systems will be implementing this change as part of our ongoing commitment to cybersecurity and the protection of student information, as MFA adds an additional layer of security beyond just a username and password. With the increasing number of credential-based attacks targeting school divisions, this measure helps prevent unauthorized access to student accounts—even if a password is compromised.

Students will only be required to use MFA when they are away from school.

How this will work:
1. Attached are the instructions for students to register for the MFA (click the heading of this story).
2. When the student is logging in to their account at home, or away from the school network, they are prompted to create a Multi Factor Authentication code.
3. Student MFA will only be required when students are accessing their accounts outside of the division’s network (off-site) and only then will be prompted to verify their identity using a second factor (picture or code).
4. When students are working within our schools on the division network, MFA will not be required.
5. No changes to in-school login procedures

Again, this is only for students who are accessing their school account away from the school.

Any questions? Please contact admin or front office.
