Driver's Education Information 2025-26

Driver's Education 2025-2026

For the 2025-26 school year, students must be 15 years old by July 31st, 2026.

Students are placed in Driver Education classes based on their age, birthdate and class availability

The in-class part of the Driver Education Program at ECS is delivered from 3:45 pm to 5:50 pm and will be held in the Lecture Theatre in Room 15. There are 15 classes.

Students cannot miss more than 3 hours of the Driver Education course.

Each student will be required to have a short (under two minute) SGI Vision Test performed by the instructor before the class begins. This will be announced closer to the start date of your first class and will take place during the school day.

Each student will be required to have an SGI Customer Number before they can take their Vision Test or begin classes (see instructions below).

Apart from the 30 hours of classroom instruction, each student will receive 6 hours of in-car training. This will be arranged directly between the Driver Education Instructor and your student.

*Please note that students must ask permission from their classroom teacher prior to attending a driving time.

Setting Up Your SGI Account

SGI requires you to set up a “My SGI” Account before you start your Driver’s Education class.

How to do this:

Step 1.

Before you start your Drivers Ed Class: Go to any SGI location with your Birth Certificate OR Passport, your Saskatchewan Health Card, and your email address.

Ask to set up a “My SGI” account.

Step 2. SGI will email you a request to activate your account. (This is time sensitive and will expire so do it right away!)

Step 3. Bring your SGI customer number to your first Driver’s Education class.
