Holiday Trees

The Estevan Comprehensive School was around spreading holiday spirit!
The Construction class made wooden trees with wooden stars.
A Christmas ornament decorating contest was held amongst the students through the library.
The ornaments were then placed and decorated by the Visual Arts class along with their personal creativity.
The Creative Writing class created Christmas cards.
We then had ECS students deliver the trees to three of the senior care centers in Estevan. The residents were very appreciative of the work the ECS students completed.

Students for Social Justice

This year ECS raised approximately $675 in gifts and $184 in cash for the Angel Tree.
Miss Hood’s class was the winner of the advisory class competition. Her class donated over $200 in gifts and $50 cash. This classroom will receive a small prize next week.
We are thankful that the teachers and students support these initiatives!

Semester 1 Course Completion Week

• There will be no Advisory Classes during Course Completion Week
• Classroom teachers will clearly tell students how their course will be completed. Teachers can select from a range of assessment practices to complete a course, including a comprehensive final exam.
• Any re-assessments will be determined by the classroom teacher and be in alignment with our school’s assessment and evaluation practices.
• For grades 10–12, time beyond the exam period will not be for new instruction but can be used for reassessment, credit recovery, and completion of missing assignments. Attendance will be taken during these periods. If students are not in attendance, it is an expectation that parents put in a planned absence.
• All grades 10-12 must attend scheduled exam periods (highlighted in red) during the course completion week and must stay for the full duration (students are not to leave after the first hour as this has been a practice in past).
• If a student is absent during a scheduled exam period during the course completion week, students are expected to plan with their teacher.
• SECPSD and ECS expectations are that grade 9 will not write comprehensive finals in their classes during course completion week. Grade 9 students are expected to attend all their scheduled periods
